FAQs
General FAQs:

Q: Are any of your doctors accepting new patients?
A: Yes! In Newaygo, Doctors Michael Minasian and Erica Rose are accepting. In Fremont, Doctors Paul Renaud and Eric Weaver are, as well as the Pediatricians, Doctors Betsy Welsh and Julie Norris.

Q: Do you participate with my insurance type?
A: PMG participates with many insurance types including Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, PPOM, Priority Health, Medicare, Medicaid, and many more. Please click on the Billing and Insurance tab above for the link to the participating insurances list.

Q: What is the telephone number to the specialty services office in the basement of your Fremont office?
A: (231) 924-1305.

Q: Why can’t I speak with my doctor or his/her nurse when I call your office?
A: PMG has a qualified staff of triage personnel to take initial telephone calls so the doctors and their MAs/LPNs can give their full attention to direct patient interaction and keep patient appointments flowing efficiently throughout the day.

Q: What are your office hours?
A: In Fremont and Newaygo, the doors are always open 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fremont is also open 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Saturday, the Urgent Care office in Newaygo is open on Saturdays from 12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m. and both offices are closed on Sunday. In addition to that, PMG also has evening hours after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, but those hours vary depending on patients’ needs. Evening hours are held in both Fremont and Newaygo. Please call for an appointment.

Q: What is covered under my health insurance?
A: Benefits vary widely among health insurance companies and there is no way for PMG to know exactly what is covered by your insurance company because there are simply too many companies and coverage levels to keep track of. Please call the telephone number on your insurance card with any questions regarding your specific coverage.

Q: My doctor isn’t working today but I ran out of my medication. Why can’t a different provider refill my prescription today?
A: Our policy is that we require 48 hours notice for prescription refills. Your provider will be back within 48 hours. In the event that he/she won’t be available within that amount of time, an exception will be made and you will be notified.

Q: Why do I need to make an appointment for a blood pressure check, an allergy injection, a pregnancy test, etc? Why can’t I just walk in for something so simple?
A: To evenly balance the daily flow of patients for nursing staff and so patients aren’t made to wait for an extended period of time if too many patients arrive all at once. PMG does their best to accommodate you at your availability.

Q: I have a prescription for a narcotic medication. Why won’t my doctor refill my prescriptions early?
A: Patients who are prescribed narcotics have to sign a narcotic agreement, in which it states that the prescription will not be refilled early under any circumstances. This is to protect both the patient as well as the physician.

Q: Why does my doctor want me to bring all of my medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter meds, vitamins and herbal supplements to all of my office visits?
A: Taking multiple medications can sometimes cause negative interactions in your body. Your doctor needs to know everything you’re taking in case they are causing a negative interaction, or so anything he/she may prescribe during the office visit will not interfere with anything you’re already taking.
